Remembrance of Things Past

I got some really old disposables developed yesterday. And when I mean really old, I mean REALLY old, like more than 2 years old; one of them I swear is from at least 7 years ago which is why more than half the photos were ruined. You’ll see Naomi as a wee one.

(One is black and white film; the other, in color – albeit very faded color)

July 2006, on the plane to Ecuador

This was in the small Ecuadorian village of Golgote. (July 2006)

Golgote again; I spot Julie’s hat. (July 2006)

I remember trying desperately to sneak pictures of this old man (yes, apparently my penchant for furtive photography began at an early age). I do quite like his hat. (July 2006)

Ah, the woes of film photography. I spot Esther Hao, Hien Chi and his Jansport backpack, and some baldie. (July 2006)

Driving through Ecuador. (July 2006)

Jeremy is probably trying to mutilate a fish. (July 2006)

Tito, funny man & I think that is half of David Song. (July 2006)

I spy Luis, Tito, David Song, Esther Hao, Kristian, & Michael under the hazy rays of a nebulous sunlight.

I still wear this shirt and look like a towering giant. (July 2006, by the rio)

Maria Jose & Mrs. Pastor Jorge Tigrero… I don’t remember her name!

On an Ecuadorian rooftop overlooking the city of Quito. This picture is pretty representative of Esther and I even up to this day. We are pretty much the same. Ha. (July 2006)

This lacks all poeticism once intended (July 2006).

One of my favorite pictures ever! A large, oversized Virgin Mary positioned in front of a beautiful Ecuadorian sky. (July 2006)

Lookit me; I is a cool tweenager! (July 2006, overlooking the city of Quito)

I don’t know what to think of myself… (July 2006, Ecuador marketplace

Seriously?! (This was the first picture on the roll, so I’m guessing this was from August 2005 on the bus to retreat)

I see Daniel Kim; I cannot identify the female figure. (August 2005)

When I found this camera again after a few years… I had a few shots left on it, so I finished it with some random photos around the house.

The Secret Window

My backyard.

Stephanie Benedict went to her grandmother’s funeral and brought this back for me.

I smirk happily when I see this photo.

If life were Beauty and the Beast, this would have eyes and start singing.

Obvious boredom.

HAHA! THE BEST!

Next reel…

In your face, Mark Rothko! I can do Color Field without paint!

Where the heck is this?! I think this may be Harvard actually … and if it is, then this camera is more than 7 years old!

Yes, what the heck, this is in Cambridge. The summer after fifth grade, when Christina Rowe’s mom took her and me to Boston & Cape Cod.

Ah yes, the foyer. So so damaged.

YES! THE SECOND BEST. I wish she were still that height. I am also a fan of the socks.

7 years later and the living room still looks the same. We added some orange pillows.

And… the backyard looks the same. Still a fountain with no water.

I realize that I just ran around the house taking pictures.

Well, the music has changed. No more FINGER POWER.

Don’t you love damaged photos?! (I actually do)

HAHA!

This is ACTUALLY embarassing. I’m stopping now.

I will not be blogging for a few days, I don’t think. Maybe, Maybe Not. But probably not. Because I will be busy. But this terribly entertaining (or not) post should suffice for the time being. Enjoy.

OH MY GOD. I love black and white photos. There’s a sense of timelessness in them that color photos don’t always have. TOO CUTE! You all look soooooo sooo young.

You must be glad you did develop those photos. Some of pictures are really good, especially the country side ones with lots of greenery. It makes me want to visit the place. By the way what place is this?

Your pictures are very good young lady. I too enjoyed the country side with all of the greenery, despite the fact that the pictures were in black and white. I would also like to know what place this is, even though you claim that it is Ecuador, I do not believe you. Please come and visit the resorts in Nicaragua, because it is similar to the places in your beautiful pictures and has much greenery and many countrysides. It will make you want to visit the place.

PS. I heard India has good resorts too!
